Celebrating Holiday Traditions

St. Johnsbury Welcomes Winter!

“This is an incredible community, especially around the holidays,” says Tara Holt, director of the St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce.  “There are many terrific events, activities, and surprises that celebrate many traditions from now through the end of the year.”  The St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce works with local businesses and residents to support the cultural and commercial success of our community.

Don’t miss our annual St. Johnsbury Victorian Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 10. It’s full day of activities that draw on St. J’s elegant Victorian roots to highlight today’s creative and innovative community.

You can be part of the fun! Join in when you have time to help bring in the holiday magic. “We’ll make our downtown sparkle with decorations and lights, and we’re excited to welcome Santa along with a host of holiday personalities, games, tastes, and excitement.  All together, we do everything we can to bring holiday cheer to St. J,” says one resident who is involved with decorating our shopping district.

Here are some ways to get involved:

  • Decorating Downtown (November 29, 9 AM to noon): meet at the Welcome Center to hang garlands and build our Winter Village at the Welcome Center.
  • Welcome Santa (Friday, December 2, 5:00 – 7:00 PM): join the fun as we light our downtown and welcome Santa!  This family-friendly event is open to everyone.  You can help by volunteering to serve cookies and cocoa.  The more, the merrier!
  • Victorian Holiday Celebration (Saturday, December 10, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM): a full day of holiday cheer!  Shopping, crafts, food, and music are part of this St. J tradition that brings friends, neighbors, and families together.  St. J’s elegant Victorian heritage sets the scene as we celebrate where we are today with activities and tastings that showcase local creativity and talents.

Call the St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce at the Welcome Center, 748-8575 to find out more about being part of these and other holiday activities!  Everyone is welcome.
