Readings with Billy Collins

Saturday, September 10

at 7PM (St. Johnsbury Academy Fuller Hall)

Billy Collins is known for making the ordinary extraordinary. His poetry can infuse common objects with surprising meaning. Take, for example, his poem “The Country,” which begins with a simple contemplation of a match and turns to something much larger, embedded in memory.

This presentation is part of the William Eddy Lecture Series, which was launched in 2010 by Bill and Pam Eddy. “The William Eddy Lecture Series challenges our habits of thinking,” says Adam Kane, director of the Fairbanks Museum, which administers the program. “Their support brings critical thinkers — writers, artists, scientists, scholars — to St. Johnsbury.”

This program is FREE and open to everyone. Fairbanks Museum members can access priority seating until 6:30, after that time all seats are general admission. Groups of 10 or more can reserve seats for $5/person before September 7.
